Improved access to Wellesley Park

The City of Hobart is conducting works improving access to Wellesley Park for walkers, bikes and scooters. The new stone steps pictured lead up from the quarry near the bottom of Hillborough Road, into the park and towards Wentworth Street. This has replaced the rough and slippery goat track that has been there for decades.

Meanwhile a smooth concrete path with handrail is being constructed between the Wentworth Street dead end and the top of the Bandminton Centre car park, replacing a gravel path that has been badly damaged by several heavy rain events in the last five years, needing regrading each time.

Together these improvements will make easy access to this wonderful park possible for many more people.
